Katharina Kefer (violin),

born in 1974, comes from a family of musicians from the Stuttgart area. After graduating from high school, she studied violin with Hildegard Wind at the State University of Music in Freiburg and completed her diploma in orchestral music and instrumental teaching. She expanded her musical horizons with, among other things, a master class for violin with Franco Gulli (Bloomington) and a tutoring course in choir and orchestral conducting. During her studies, she gained valuable experience as a concertmaster and section leader in various orchestras.

Katharina performs in numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles (including Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Freiburg, Young Opera of the Stuttgart State Opera, Camerata Stuttgart, SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg, Orchestra of the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, Black Forest Chamber Orchestra, ensemble suonare, Manon&Co, sagas- string quintet, beatlestrings) and can be heard as a soloist at home and abroad, as well as at well-known European festivals (e.g. Shanghai Oriental Art Center, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Megaron Musikis Athens, Festival La Nuova Arca Turin, Feldkirch Festival, Enescu Festival Romania). She also takes part in radio, television and CD productions. As part of the sagas production of Charles Dickens' "Christmas Carol" she toured Germany in 2018 together with Miroslav Nemec and Udo Wachtveitl and in 2019 she toured China with the Black Forest Chamber Orchestra. Katharina is passionate about performing baroque works, but also plays with great commitment in the crossover area from swing to jazz to rock and pop. At this point she was already rocking the stage with the Scorpions.

Since 2002 she has successfully led a violin class at the Engelberg Free Music School. It was there that she founded the Engelberger Violin Orchestra in 2003 and the Engelberger Streichhölzer in 2014. Together with Jochen Kefer (cello), she has been the artistic director of the Engelberg Chamber Orchestra since 2016. With the above-mentioned ensembles and repertoire specially arranged for this line-up, she has been delighting concert audiences for several years. Promoting young, growing musicians through rehearsing and making music together at the highest level combined with great joy in playing, as well as generally inspiring people of all ages for music, is a passion of the spirited violinist's heart.

...last but not least

When Katharina is not on stage, she keeps herself busy in a variety of ways, not just musically: she paints, draws, makes works out of wood, is a writer, loves cooking and baking, she likes order but hates tidying up, Whenever possible, enjoy the peace and quiet or explore the surrounding nature while jogging. As in life, no mountain is too steep and no forest is too dense. Since she accidentally ran a half marathon due to lack of direction, she decided to run a marathon one day on purpose.

However, when it comes to the beatlestrings, Katharina always has full insight. Her organizational talent and reliability come in handy not only in everyday life, but also on stage.

Katharina is the undisputed queen of playing several instruments at the same time, which further enriches the sound diversity of beatlestrings.
